My Mirliton-Grenadier miniatures arrived safe!

Today is Christmas! It 'got the package I was waiting anxiously ... The giant is amazing, there are two pounds of metal here! The Goblin's box and the diorama of Malvolio are wonderful masterpieces (VERY '80s !!!). But the real Star for me is the Chaos Destroyer, miniature whom I admired on the shelves of I Giochi dei Grandi many years ago... I wonder who had painted.

Mr Basetta make you beautiful.

If you need perfect bases, sculpted in precious wood, totally handmade, here is the website for you. When I saw them I could not resist and buy a couple of them. http://www.ilbasetta.it/

Amazing Dungeon Adventurers miniatures.

Great initiative by Otherworld Miniatures: thanks to fundraising-crowdsourcing INDEGOGO we have the chance to see these beautiful miniatures made (and we can also reserve some miniatures in advance) The first set made will be The Adventurers and then incoming other. I chose the package level 4 ... very nice also the reference levels-money. As in the old damn RPG. Could not resist!

The figures will be sculpted by a variety of talented sculptors, including Kevin Adams and Patrick Keith, with others joining the project later.  The miniatures will depict archetypal fantasy adventurers, human and demi-human, male and female, wearing practical clothing and armour and carrying realistic weapons and equipment. They will be posed for exploration, not combat.  And these characters won’t be muscle-bound superheroes waving Vorpal Swords in the air - they’ll be grim-faced dungeoneers, a little bit down on their luck, and ready for action on your table-top!
The 4 initial boxed sets will be:
DAB1 – Dungeon Adventurers I – Human Male Characters (planned release – January 2013)
  • Fighter in Plate Mail, with Bastard Sword & Torch
  • Cleric in Chainmail, with Mace & Cross
  • Magic User in Robes, with Staff & Lantern
  • Thief in Leather Armour, with Shortsword & Sack
  • Druid in Leather Armour, with Scimitar
  • Ranger in Leather Armour, with Bow
  • Monk in Robes, with Quarterstaff
  • Barbarian in Studded Leather, with Spear & Shield
  • Illusionist in Robes, with Scroll
  • Assassin in Studded Leather, with Blade Venom
  • Paladin in Plate Armour, with Longsword & Shield
  • Bard in Chainmail, with Longsword & Lute

Mirliton is my new God !

As I walked through the stands of Novegro (http://www.parcoesposizioninovegro.it Hobby Model Expo 2012)  I came across these crazy Tuscan family. They are the Mirliton and are reprinting  (pure white metal) ALL  -and I mean all-   the amazing old Grenadier miniatures production. Beautiful, perfectly printed and reproduced in great detail. They bought the original molds and they are really doing a crazy job to bring to light these masterpieces disappeared. I immediately bought a medium Shire Dragon... beautiful, and then I saw the incredible GOBLIN WAR GIANT ... almost 2 kg of pure metal. AMAZING. The prices are fair and on the site there are all the news available. Please.. go ahead! http://www.mirliton.it

Great Beastman from the '80

I love this Chaos warrior. I finally found the time to paint it as it deserves. The bull's head (which it does look like a minotaur) is a real touch of class. Very 80s!

Some new Crooked Claw goblins painted!

During my vacation I painted a couple of goblins (and a special Barbarian Hero ). I must admit that these miniatures are really well done. Paint was great fun, I was able to add many details due to the perfection of sculpture. I look forward to the new order that I placed on Crooked Claw!

Eavy Metal (Tim Prow, Mike, Roy Eastland & Colin Dixon)

I have a large collection of pictures and this is why I decided to share what I think are the most beautiful  miniatures ever painted by the Heavy Metal teams over the years. Some of these guys are simply guests but in my opinion deserve a prominent place in our hearts. I refer to the beautiful creatures of chaos by Tim Prow..
nicely converted, with a cool painting style.
Lot of work but ... still amazing!! Enjoy!!
This is one of the best conversions ever created by the hand of Mike Mc Vey. Amazing Eagle Rider full tattoed. Simple but great!

Mike has a truly unique style of painting.. one of my favourite paint-master ever!
The Colin's Norse dwarf  are something unique and spectacular. Full of exquisite details, beautiful combinations of colors and with an amazing painting styleLook at the faces of the dwarfs!!! Wow! ... It 's true, even the miniatures are sculpted very well, but to make them live, is entirely the work of Colin.

Also the Roy's skeletons are really good, I love how he managed to give the color of the bones without falling into the typical trick of washing. Remember that to paint a skeleton in a professional manner, the washes are useless ... or almost! ;)

Fantasy Miniatures: Golden Demon 1988.

The magnificent book that Orlygg put online ( http://www.scribd.com/doc/96961833/Fantasy-Miniatures-1988)for us is not just a book of old miniatures, is a testimony of how the world of warhammer in the past was a world of freedom, color, imagination, improvisation, and creation. No pattern to follow to win or be noticed by the jury. The Golden Demon winner was the bravest and most creative painter. I have this book in my collection, I take it back since 1988 and i spent tons of hours looking for inspiration. There are some real masterpieces, many great dioramas too. My favorite is definitely Mark Harrison's Tree on page 35. Simply Brilliant!

John Blanche loves Zombies (me too)

I've already written but I like to repeat it, this is probably the best John Blanche's diorama ever conceived. The Zombie Assault with a touch of black magic,...what more could you want? Thank Orlygg ROC Blog for reminding us with these beautiful photos!

Wishful Thinking Top Ten!

Ciao! I've also decided to put online my list of favorites. Also because I think it important for every collector to have a wish list, the list of minaitures that never runs out and, in fact, grows more and more until it became almost impossible to satisfy!

1) The Dragon Masters
2) 1986 sculpt by Micheal Perry based on 'Amazonia Gothique' by John Blanche.

 3) Amazing Zombie by Kevin Adams
4) Jes Goodwin - Hrothyogg, Ogre Captain.

 5) Marauder Giant

6)Bugman's Dwarf Rangers

7) Great Imperial Dragon

8-9) 1985 Official D&D Citadel Miniatures: BDD01 – Dungeon Adventurers e BDD02 – Dungeon Monsters  (Miniature scolpite da Michael & Alan Perry, Aly Morrison, Bob Naismith.)

 10) Orc War Wyvern

The problem with the old miniatures is that it would be great to find complete box but unfortunately is not always possible. I dream of putting up a wall full of blisters and boxes from '80... For now let's just point out our favorite pieces, hoping, calmly and thanks to eBay and forums to be able to put together all these beautiful pieces. Then we must also paint them and it takes so long! I wish you all good hunting!

My Otherworld miniature order arrived!

Otherworld has done a wonderful job. Goblins on wolves all metal and beautifully carved. Very beautiful miniatures, very well packed. ... hmmmm I love the smell of metal in the morning.!!!!
This is a special pack to celebrate the 5th anniversary of Otherworld Miniatures, a diorama pack inspired by the iconic cover painting of adventurers looting an evil temple. This set includes a resin casting of our original DD1 Demon Idol which is 84mm tall to the tip of its horns. It has a seperate hand/bowl piece, and is supplied with a selection of coloured gemstone eyes. The pack also includes several pewter-cast pieces; 2 thieves, a stone altar, 2 flaming braziers (only 1 shown in the photo), a seperate mini-idol, a sacrificial dagger and an iron spike for attaching the climbing thief. The Idol was sculpted by Paul Muller, the accessories by Kevin Adams.

The Wight King finally painted!

This miniature is not so easy to paint!! But I love it!

a couple of new monsters in my collection...

This is the second Minotaur I in the collection, the body is the same as the head changes. It's really nice!
The Balrog, a great monster fom the GW past... the GW has used the same wings for other models of monster.
